Shrine of Uwais Qarni
Uwais Qarni, known also as Saint Uwais Qarni (transliterated Oways b. Anis al-Qarni, Oveys Gharani and Veysel Karani) was an Arab Muslim mystic, martyr and philosopher of Yemen who lived during the lifetime of Muhammad, but never met Muhammad personally.[1] As reported by the renowned historical scholar Ibn Battuta, Uwais' tomb is found in Ar-Raqqah, Syria, where he was killed in the Battle of Siffin, where he fought on the side of Ali. Another shrine was made in his honor in Baykan, in the Siirt Province of Turkey.

Cas Houses
The older neighborhoods of the city feature two or threestory tapering houses with small windows and flat roofs. The houses are coated with a plaster known as 'cas' made from ground gypsum found near the city.
The plaster sets quickly, facilitating the construction of domes. The doors and windows are decorated with stone carvings. While ideally suited to the Siirt climate and made using local materials, traditional
'cas' houses are nevertheless harder to build, more expensive and less hardy than their concrete counterparts, and are in danger of disappearing.

Siirt blankets
Siirt blankets are mainly woven from mohair. The wool is spun into yarn, which is then woven on traditional looms. During the weaving, the blanket is combed and tufted. The mohair is not
dyed, and the blankets therefore come only in black, white, beige and camel. It takes a whole day to weave a single-size blanket. Today, overcoats, scarves, saddlebags, bags and bedspreads
are also made from mohair.
